What is a Myelogram?

A myelogram is a medical test that shows whether there is anything pushing on the spinal cord or nerves. The myelogram is performed by a radiologist in the Diagnostic Imaging Department. During the procedure, the radiologist puts a smallĀ  needle into the fluid sac around the nerves and below the spinal cord and injects about two tablespoons of contrast material. The contrast material outlines the spinal cord and nerves and will show if there is anything such as a herniated disc pressing on them.
